The Australian Government has a range of initiatives to encourage international trade. These include grants such as the Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme, which supports a range of industries and is administered by Austrade.
Under this scheme, eligible small and medium-sized Australian businesses can apply for reimbursement of export promotion expenses .There is no minimum requirement for the total expenses to be eligible for the grant. The EMDG program is based on eligibility and demand, meaning that all eligible applicants will receive a grant from the available funds. The amount each applicant receives depends on how many applications are submitted and how much total funding is available. The grant pool is divided among all eligible applicants.
There are no open applications for the EMDG program. New rules are expected for the upcoming round, and Austrade will announce all changes once the program details are finalized. The next opportunity to apply will likely be in late 2024 or early 2025.
